John has appeared as Kolos on Enterprise, and lent his voice to the game Star Trek: Armada II as Martok.
Bio
J.G. Hertzler was born on an Air Force base in Savannah, GA. Prior to his incarnation as the Great Klingon General Martok, he appeared as the Vulcan Captain of the USS Saratoga in the Deep Space Nine pilot episode "Emissary."
When auditioning for the role of Martok, the casting director told him to show more anger so he threw a chair at a wall. The display cost him a thumbnail, but won him the role.
Previous to this, John's career has included some forty episodes of Zorro for the Family Channel where he starred as Zorro's evil nemesis, Alcalde Ignacio Desoto. That seies shot in a little town just north of Madrid, Spain during the early 90s.
Other television and film appearances include episodes of Quantum Leap, Highlander, Lois and Clark, General Hospital and One Life to Live. He's been seen on the big screen as the troubled Father William in the Christopher Walken film, The Prophecy 2. Other film credits include Treasure Island and ...And Justice For All with Al Pacino and the HBO movie The Pirates of Silicon Valley.
On the stage, John's career has spanned the United States from Broadway to Los Angeles, appearing in over fifty Shakespearean productions at the Guthrie, ACT in San Francsco, The Folger Theatre and festivals from Maine to New Jersey to California.
He has also undertaken writing a two-part novel based on his character Martok for Simon and Schuster Publishing. Having said all that, J.G.feels his most extraordinary achievement by far, together with his wife,actress Jenna Cole, is the birth of their daughter, Hanna.
